Don't build another basic school management system. Find a meaningful problem, research it, and create a product that could realistically be sold to schools.
Schools manage thousands of students, teachers and parents using a mix of WhatsApp, spreadsheets, paper, calls and manual follow-ups.
Your mission is to identify a meaningful problem faced by schools and build a commercially viable SaaS solution to solve it.
Simple attendance, registration, timetable, fee, marks or notice-board systems alone will not qualify as a strong solution.
These are inspiration only. Your team is free to discover a completely different problem.
Track buses, predict delays and notify parents with useful operational insights.
Reduce repetitive administrative work through intelligent workflows and automation.
Create structured, measurable communication between schools, teachers and parents.
Manage enquiries, follow-ups, applications and admissions as a measurable funnel.
Track complaints from submission and assignment through resolution and feedback.
Use AI where it genuinely solves a problem—not just to add a chatbot.
You need to think like a product team: understand the problem, build the solution, and prove the business case.
Support appropriate user roles such as School Admin, Teacher, Parent or Student.
Show meaningful information and actions for your target users.
Store and manage real application data rather than relying only on static screens.
At least one important process must work end-to-end.
Turn collected data into useful insights for the customer.
Your MVP should work across mobile, tablet and desktop screens.
ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, AI APIs and ML libraries are permitted. However, participants must understand and explain their implementation. Judges may ask why a technology or algorithm was selected and what happens when inputs or data change.
Your first version may target one school. During the event, an additional requirement can be announced: support multiple schools without mixing their data. Teams should be prepared to think about multi-tenancy, roles, scalability and security.
Your project isn't complete when the code works.
Identify who makes the purchasing decision.
The buyer and end user may be different people.
Explain the value and what problem your product removes.
Propose a realistic pricing model and justify it.
Suggest a basic customer acquisition strategy.
Explain your differentiation from existing solutions.
A beautiful UI alone won't win. We are looking for problem + technology + product thinking.
